This striking long runner is an early 20th-century Eastern Anatolian village rug, woven circa 1930-1945. The composition is organized along a strong vertical axis, anchored by a sequence of bold cruciform medallions—a hallmark of Armenian and Caucasus-influenced Anatolian weaving rather than Persian workshop production.

The field features stylized branching motifs and protective symbols rendered in saturated madder red, warm ochre, charcoal brown, and deep indigo. Secondary geometric devices—hooks, rosettes, and stepped forms—appear throughout, reinforcing the symbolic, talismanic nature of the design. The border structure is confident and graphic, with repeated minor motifs that echo the geometry of the central field.

Woven entirely of hand-spun wool with natural dyes, the rug shows honest age, tonal variation, and surface wear consistent with a piece over a century old. These elements contribute to its depth and character rather than detract from it. A rare and expressive runner with strong architectural presence—ideal for a hallway, stair landing, or layered in a collected interior.
