A striking vintage Baluch pictorial rug, hand-knotted in the weaving region spanning eastern Iran and western Afghanistan, dating approximately to the mid-20th century.
Stylized peacocks are arranged across a deep espresso-black field, surrounded by scattered floral and botanical motifs in raspberry, crimson, burgundy, rust and dark green. The birds’ elongated forms and fan-like tails give the composition a wonderfully expressive, folk-woven character.
The wool pile is exceptionally soft and supple to the touch, adding a tactile richness to the rug’s already dramatic palette and pictorial design.
