A striking vintage Persian village runner, hand-knotted in western Iran and dating approximately to the mid-20th century. The design is unusually bold, with oversized geometric motifs rendered in warm terracotta, apricot, ivory, deep navy and saturated red.
Rather than a delicate repeating floral pattern, this piece has a strong, almost totemic composition: large angular forms run the length of the field, punctuated by smaller geometric devices and framed by a narrow, richly patterned border. The scale of the motifs gives the rug a distinctly collected, graphic quality while the warm palette keeps it remarkably easy to place.
Hand-knotted in wool with the irregularities and subtle variation expected of village weaving. Vintage condition with visible age-related character consistent with its history; overall intact.
