Vintage Eastern Anatolian Runner (Circa 1935-1945)
This hand-knotted antique runner was woven in Eastern Anatolia in the early 20th century, reflecting strong Caucasian and Armenian village influences. Its long, architectural format is anchored by a bold central axis framed with geometric floral and zoomorphic motifs—symbols traditionally associated with protection, continuity, and abundance.
The palette is grounded in a warm brick-rose field balanced by deep indigo and near-black borders, softened over time through natural vegetable dyes and decades of use. The wool has a matte, organic finish typical of village weaving, with subtle abrash that adds depth rather than uniformity.
Size: 4’3” × 6’6”
Origin: Eastern Anatolia, Turkey
Date: Circa 1935-1945
Condition: Very good antique condition with even wear and intact structure
