A beautifully aged vintage Persian rug, hand-knotted in western Iran and dating approximately to the mid-20th century.
A muted mauve field surrounds a bold stepped central medallion in deep brown, ivory and rose, with scattered floral rosettes, boteh-inspired motifs and small geometric devices throughout. Contrasting ivory corner panels add brightness to the composition, while a dark floral border frames the rug in deeper tones.
The softened palette and slightly irregular drawing give this piece the expressive character associated with Persian village weaving.
