A commanding Heriz runner from the early 20th century, woven in the highlands of Northwest Persia where mountain wool and mineral-rich water lent unique depth to each hue. The field burns with a deep ember red, tempered by charcoal abrash and geometric medallions outlined in aged gold and walnut brown. Its design carries the hallmarks of Heriz tribal composition — large, angular medallions linked by a rhythmic spine, surrounded by stepped corners and motifs derived from ancient talismanic forms.
The wool is hand-spun, heavy, and lanolin-rich, giving the pile a durable, almost velvety surface that glows softly under natural light. Over a century of oxidation has matured the natural madder, iron oxide, and walnut dyes into a beautifully subdued palette — proof of time’s gentle artistry. Each tone remains earthy yet luminous, revealing subtle abrash transitions where the original dye batches met on the loom.
