This vintage Hamadan runner features a softly luminous ivory field anchored by stacked geometric medallions in olive, rust, and deep madder tones. Delicate floral and foliate motifs are scattered throughout the field, giving the design a garden-like rhythm that feels both grounded and expressive.
Decades of use have gently broken in the wool, creating a supple, inviting surface with a naturally softened pile. The rug’s patina enhances the warmth of the palette, allowing the colors to glow rather than shout — a quality that makes this piece especially versatile in both classic and modern interiors.
Wide, layered borders frame the runner with structure and balance, while subtle animal and botanical elements reflect the personal language of village weaving traditions from western Iran.
Condition: Even, age-consistent wear with a soft hand; structurally sound and full of character.
Size: 3’3” x 6’9”
Origin: Western Iran (Hamadan region)
Circa: 1930s–1950s
Material: Hand-knotted wool pile on cotton foundation
Color Palette
• Warm ivory / parchment field (uncommon and very desirable in runners)
• Olive green and sage medallions
• Deep madder red, rust, and soft charcoal accents
• Colors appear to be largely natural dyes, now mellowed with age
