Hand-knotted in the Malayer weaving villages of north-west Persia in the early to mid-20th century (circa 1930s–1950s), this nearly fourteen-foot gallery runner brings centuries of Persian design language into a striking, modern-ready format.
A chain of elongated hexagon medallions—in madder red, ivory, and midnight blue—marches down a soft brown field scattered with tiny blossoms and latch-hook motifs. Slim guard stripes and a classic leaf-and-wine main border frame the piece, while gentle abrash (the natural tonal shifts of hand-dyed wool) creates a subtle painterly depth.
Malayer runners from this period were woven on family looms with hand-spun wool pile over a cotton foundation, prized for their durability and fluid drape. The palette—muted but still vibrant after 70–90 years—works beautifully in both modern and traditional interiors.
Sized at 3’6″ × 13’10″, this runner is ideal for grand entryways, long hallways, or kitchens that need warmth and character. Its extra-long format is highly sought after by designers looking for authentic vintage length with a slim profile.

Please note: These rugs are old and have lived a long life. When dealing with antique and vintage rugs it is very common to see color & size variations, signs of wear, repairs, etc. I photograph using natural light only. I do not retouch or otherwise manipulate images of rugs. Prices are very competitive because the rugs are not professionally cleaned. Every rug is however vacuumed two times front and back.
