This vintage Baluch tribal rug features bold stepped medallions set within a richly saturated madder-red field, accented by symbolic animal motifs and graphic geometric detailing. Hand-knotted by nomadic weavers from the Afghan–Iran border region in the mid-20th century, the design carries both visual strength and quiet symbolism.
What truly sets this piece apart is its exceptionally soft, supple wool. Decades of use have naturally broken in the fibers, creating a low, velvety pile that feels almost textile-like underfoot — a quality rarely found in tribal rugs of this age. The surface has a relaxed, lived-in drape that makes it especially inviting in intimate spaces.
Earthy reds, inky browns, and subtle ivory highlights give the rug warmth and versatility, while the softened handle makes it ideal for bedrooms, layered living areas, or anywhere comfort is key.
