A rare symbolic weaving with birds, branching motifs, and timeless hand-dyed colorwork. Hand-knotted in the Kurdish villages of north-west Persia in the mid-20th century (circa 1940–1960), this striking runner tells a story of nomadic life and artistic freedom. A bold shield-like medallion in glowing saffron and ember orange floats on a deep charcoal/onyx field populated with small birds and stylized tree-of-life motifs — emblems of protection and fertility in Kurdish weaving tradition.
Sized at 4’8 × 9’10, it’s a versatile gallery runner — wide enough for a grand hallway, layered under a console, or anchoring a long kitchen. Its palette bridges earthy warmth and dramatic contrast, making it equally at home in modern, bohemian, or traditional interiors.

Please note: These rugs are old and have lived a long life. When dealing with antique and vintage rugs it is very common to see color & size variations, signs of wear, repairs, etc. I photograph using natural light only. I do not retouch or otherwise manipulate images of rugs. Prices are very competitive because the rugs are not professionally cleaned. Every rug is however vacuumed two times front and back.
