This early 20th-century Eastern Anatolian runner features a striking vertical composition rooted in Armenian and Caucasus-influenced village weaving traditions. The field is organized around repeated tree-of-life forms rising through a deep charcoal ground, framed by architectural and protective symbols that reflect the symbolic language of the region.

Naturally dyed wool in oxidized madder red, apricot, ochre, and muted indigo has softened beautifully over time, giving the rug a calm, matte presence that reads rich rather than bold. The drawing is confident but human — a hallmark of village weaving — with subtle variation that confirms its hand-made origin.

Hand-knotted with wool pile on a wool foundation, this rug dates to approximately 1920-1940 and remains structurally sound, with even wear consistent with age and use. Its long, narrow format makes it especially suited for hallways, kitchens, or layered styling in larger rooms.

Circa 1920-1940 (early 20th century)

Clear but even wear across the field, especially in darker ground areas

Dye mellowing without chemical brightness or artificial contrast

Hand-spun wool texture visible on close inspection

Village-level drawing precision (not workshop symmetry, not late export production)
