Ruby Star-Chain Herki Runner — 2’8” x 12’3” circa 1935-1955

Hand-knotted wool with a classic Kurdish layout: a linked chain of stepped diamond medallions running the length of a deep garnet field, flanked by twinkling eight-point “star” borders. The palette is rich and lively—oxblood, ivory, pistachio/moss, straw and touches of sky—tempered by beautiful, natural abrash (those tonal shifts you see across the reds). Charming small rosettes and talisman motifs scatter the ground for movement and character.

Details: early mid-century village weave; wool pile, sturdy handle; low/medium pile with age-softened areas, minor scattered wear and fringes shortened at ends; sides secure; lies flat. A striking, long hallway piece with that moody ruby glow only vintage Herki runners carry.
