This is not a reproduction — it’s a true Antique Ghost Malayer, woven over a century ago on a primitive hand-tensioned loom by a village weaver in western Persia. Its soft, buttery wool is rich in natural lanolin, giving it that subtle sheen that only age and time can create.

Over decades, the darker natural dyes have gently oxidized, allowing the original diamond and boteh motifs to “ghost” beneath the surface — a hallmark of genuine antique wear, never distressing. The result is a golden, tobacco-toned patina interlaced with faded indigo specks and traces of madder red — a living map of oxidation, light, and history.

Every inch of this piece tells a story:

• Tight, slightly uneven rows — a signature of early hand-tensioned weaving (pre-1915).

• All-natural vegetable dyes — madder, indigo, walnut — no modern anilines.

• Original wool selvage and fringe, intact and untouched — exceedingly rare post-1920.

• Ghosted design — natural, century-old fading, not a chemical wash.

At over 13 feet in length, this runner carries the graceful irregularities that make true antiques irreplaceable. Perfect for a long hall, gallery wall, or layered interior — its quiet beauty commands attention without asking for it

3’6 x 13’

Please note: These rugs are old and have lived a long life. When dealing with antique and vintage rugs it is very common to see color & size variations, signs of wear, repairs, etc. I photograph using natural light only. I do not retouch or otherwise manipulate images of rugs. Prices are very competitive because the rugs are not professionally cleaned. Every rug is however vacuumed two times front and back.
